Simon Cowell teams up with Univision to discover the next Latino boy band
GritoBlast! — Reality show producer and talent scout Simon Cowell is at it again looking for the next standout talent, but this time he wants a boy band — a Latino boy band!
Cowell’s company, Syco Entertainment, along with Univision Communications, among others, have launched online auditions for a new musical talent competition on Univision titled “La Banda,” or The Band.
The objective of the show is to create the best Latino boy band in the world via one of the biggest talent searches in the history of television in the United States. The contestants will compete to win a spot on La Banda and a recording contract with Sony Music Latin.
Simon Cowell said, “I am very excited about this program. There is a huge amount of talent out there and ‘The Band’ will give five boys the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Those interested in participating can enter via La Banda website and upload photos, videos or music files. The contestants who are selected via online will receive a “golden ticket” that will allow them to participate in a private audition with the production team. The online selection process will be followed by the auditions taking place across the United States and Puerto Rico in the spring of 2015.
The talent search is open to young men over 14 who are residents of the United States and Puerto Rico.
