Coca-Cola adds to gift to Hispanic Scholarship Fund donating $1 for every Tweet or Instagram with #ForTheDream
GritoBlast! With back-to-school season right around the corner, thousands of students and families are beginning to think about college and college financing options. This summer Coca-Cola donated $100,000 to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF), the nation’s largest not-for-profit organization supporting Hispanic American higher education, as part of its #ForTheDream program aimed to inspire Hispanic teens and families to prepare, plan and pay for their college education.
“It was a dream of mine and my family’s to move to the United States to pursue higher education,” said past Coca-Cola/HSF scholarship recipient Andrea Zayas. “We left everything we knew and our Puerto Rican family for a brighter future, it wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.”
Zayas was accepted into the University of Georgia last year, and thanks to the help of the Coca-Cola/HSF scholarship she has had an amazing freshman year.
In addition to Zayas, two other past Coca-Cola/HSF scholarship recipients are David Castro, who immigrated from Mexico to the United States at a young age; and Carolina Rojas, a first-generation college student with strong Cuban roots.
In an effort to raise additional money for HSF, Coca-Cola is donating $1 for every post on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #ForTheDream, up to $10,000.
The #ForTheDream program will also award one college tour experience and thirty-four $500 grants via the #ForTheDreamSweeps sweepstakes to help cover education expenses.
To enter the sweepstakes participants can post a selfie with someone who is helping them achieve their college dreams on Twitter or Instagram, and tag it using #ForTheDreamSweeps.
