EconoFact: A new site for people not afraid of the facts

GritoBlast! — The Fletcher School at Tufts University launched EconoFact, a new website and newsletter designed to re-introduce facts into the current national debates over economic and social policies.

By enlisting more than 30 leading academic economists from across the country, EconoFact’s bipartisan network will explain the key data and other relevant facts that should go into social and economic policy decisions and then draw concrete conclusions or recommendations.

Michael Klein, the William L. Clayton Professor of International Economic Affairs at Fletcher, assembled the EconoFact Network in the weeks following the presidential election. The network has continued to expand as more and more economists are alarmed by poor policy decisions caused by divisions between Republicans and Democrats, globalists and nationalists, and the many groups in between.

Regardless of ideology, it is clear that fact-free debate will not arrive at sensible policy. EconoFact alone is not the answer, but insisting on a factual baseline in any debate is part of the eventual solution.
